A Stronger Nation Begins With A Pledge

St. Jude’s Primary School was built in 1963 and opened its doors to the Waltham Gardens Community on April 22, 1963. Since then, the school has grown and continues to perform remarkably.

The staff complement consists of a Principal, 30 Classroom teachers (of which 6 are Senior Teachers), 2 Guidance Counsellors, a Music Teacher /and our I.C.T Teacher and a Physical Education teacher. The current student population is one thousand and eighty-eight (1,088).

Our school boasts the number one Community Marching Band in the island. The school continues to excel despite limited resources.  Our school boasts excellence in chess, athletics and music. We have twenty- two (22) clubs within the school which cater to the students overall development.

Our school also excels in academics and boasts a 2015 Grade Four Literacy average of 94% and Numeracy average of 81% In 2013, we were the home of the top awardee in the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT). Our GSAT results are also remarkable, and the school continues to be one to be reckoned with.

The school has qualified for round two (2) of the 2016 Junior School Challenge Quiz.  We are also, a proud achiever in the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission Competitions where we have won numerous awards in the area of dance, music and speech.

The plans of the current administration, as it relates to the plant of the school, is to improve the infrastructure as this will impact on the comfort of the immediate stakeholders and, therefore, enhance the performance of both students and teachers. We believe that with the improvement the parents will play a greater role in doing more as well as to assist in the protection of their student’s school.

As the improvement takes place, the school will utilize the community and this involvement will impact on community pride. While the project for development may start with the school administration, the community involvement from the beginning is crucial. This involvement includes their vision as to the development needed.
