Greatly impacting Jamaica's health status
Welcome to Smoker Project of The University of the West Indies’ Medical and Dental Class of 2021 (UWI MBBS/DDS 2021)
What is the Smoker Project?
For more than 60 years, Smoker has been a year-long project where third-year MBBS/DDS students execute a series of fundraisers, all in aid of a local hospital – the biggest fundraiser being a play entirely written, directed and performed by the class.
If I donate, where will my money be going?
‘We are proud to announce our Smoker beneficiary this year: the Port Maria Hospital’ The Port Maria Hospital will be the recipient of 100% of the funds garnered from the Smoker 2018 Project!
How much are you aiming to earn for Port Maria Hospital? How do you plan to do this?
We aim to earn J$4 million (USD$ 32,000) in aid of the Port Maria Hospital through:
• Sponsorship from various organisations/companies (local and abroad);
• Our six-night play;
• Smaller fundraisers (such as our upcoming Sip and Paint and Evening of Excellence);
• Your kind donations through this page
As future medical practitioners, social outreach is a major part of our careers. We aim to improve the treatment facilities at Port Maria Hospital and to equip them with the ability to provide optimal health care, thereby improving the country’s health status.
No amount is too small to donate. Port Maria Hospital needs your support!
