A Stronger Nation Begins With A Pledge
Priory Primary & Infant School is
located in Priory, St. Ann. Currently there are 702 students on roll and these
children are from various economic background; their parents are business
people, hotel workers, farmers, fishermen and a minority are unemployed.
Attendance is good except on Fridays or when there is inclement weather. Students enjoy participating in sporting activities and they also entered a ring game item at this year’s JCDC Competition.
Currently, there is a breakfast programme funded by the Ministry of Education, Youth & Information. Students are grateful for the breakfast as many of them come to school without eating a balanced meal.
The structure at the infant department is infested by termites and is in need of a face lift. Work was done in 2014 as a Labour Day project; however, this was only a temporary fix. The school is also in need of a play area where pupils can develop holistically. The infants do not have their own bathroom and, as such, they share facilities with the students from the primary section.
Teachers are committed to making Priory Infant Department the school of choice in St Ann. With dedication, hard work and perseverance this goal will be accomplished.
The Priory School looks forward to assistance from Corporate Jamaica and the Diaspora that is going to help uplift their students and enhance their learning environment.
